New tools to meet the increasing demands of water networks in the 21st Century

A key tool in the battle to minimise leakage and control pressure in the network, the humble Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) provides a means to pressure manage networks, and therefore control leakage. Unfortunately, until now, the design and limitations of traditional Pressure Reducing Valves (PRVs) have changed very little over the last 200 years.
Limitations and problems with traditional PRVs:

  • Heavy with large footprints
  • Require frequent maintenance
  • Pose a reliability risk
  • Susceptible to cavitation damage
  • Corrosion prone cast/ ductile iron construction
